Welcome
What started as research on natural solutions and remedies for my chickens and dogs quickly turned into a hobby. That hobby then unexpectedly turned into a passion. That passion turned into a small business whether I was ready for it or not. Friends were making excuses to stop in to ask, "do you have any of more that stuff you made for sleep?" My research became night classes. My afternoon walks became herb-hunting walks. My home became a whirlwind of boxes, herbs, and jars. I haven't had a day off since I handed out my first bottle, but I also wouldn't call a single moment of any of this "work" as it is a love... a passion. Much Love, ~Allyson

What exactly are Herbal All Natural Tinctures?
What exactly are Herbal All Natural Tinctures? Let's start with the basics. If you are unfamiliar with the word tincture, I wouldn't be surprised. I was also the first time I heard of it. I find that the word has picked up a mystic or pseudoscience context over the years and good marketing is to blame for this. The fact is, you have likely been using them all your life and never knew it. If you went looking for vanilla extract at your local grocery store, you were in fact looking for a vanilla tincture. It really is the same exact thing.
I started making my own vanilla “extract” years ago and unknowingly to me I had made my very first tincture. This was a fun and practical introduction to tinctures, and I never even knew it. You may have even done this yourself and like me never knew you made a tincture. A tincture is a way to extract and preserve the properties of a plant. Tinctures or plant extractions are used for many purposes and are made by storing plant material in alcohol or glycerin for weeks to months to extract the useable plant compounds. We mostly use alcohol for all our extractions due to the much longer shelf life of five to seven years as compared to glycerin which is a six-to-nine-month shelf life. Once we complete the double extraction method we strain the plant material a minimum of three times up to six times, before bottling making our tinctures very clean. Our tincture process is long a tedious one. It takes time to make the best and to be the best there is but that’s what we strive for at The Verdant Herb. We are so glad you have found us. We are here for you when you need us.
